ادوبی ایلوستریتور یک ویرایشگر برداری طراحی گرافیک می باشد که به وسیله ی شرکت ادوبی تهیه و وارد بازار شده است. ادوبی ایلوستریتور مناسب ترین نرم افزار برای ساخت و ویرایش تصاویر برداری می باشد. تصاویر برداری (وکتور) فایل های گرافیکی محسوب می شوند که می توان سایز آن ها را بدون کاهش کیفیت در آنها تغییر داد و از این تصاویر در کارهای گرافیکی نظیر انیمیشن سازی، ساخت تیزر و ... استفاده می شوند.
محیط کاری این نرم افزار از یک منو اصلی در بالا یک پالت کنترل در زیر آن، جعبه ابزار در سمت چپ و پالت متحرک در سمت راست تشکیل شده است.
1–1.6 (Illustrator 88) اولین نسخه این برنامه می باشد که برای سیستم عامل مکینتاش در سال ۱۹۸۶ تهیه و عرضه شد.
در سال ۱۹۸۸نسخه ۱.۷ وارد بازار شد که دارای ابزارها و ویژگی های جدیدی بود.
نسخه ی ۲ نخستین نسخه این نرم افزار برای سیستم عامل ویندوز بوده است که در سال ۱۹۸۹ وارد بازار شده است.
ادوبی ایلوستریتور سی اس (CS) اولین نسخه این نرم افزار است که قابلیت سه بعدی ساختن تصاویر را دارا می باشد.
ادوبی ایلوستریتور سی سی (CC) که همزمان با سیاست جدید ادوبی Creative Cloud به منظور تغییر انتشار نرم افزارهای خود بود به بازار عرضه شد، این نرم افزار مطابق با استاندارد های صنعتی برای طراحی مدیا می باشد.
آخرین نسخه این برنامه تا به اکنون ادوبی ایلوستریتور سی سی ۲۰۱۷ می باشد که دارای تایپ لمسی، بسته بندی فایل بوده و قادر به ترسیم اشکال و مسیر هایی است که کاملا با شبکه پیکسلی تراز می شوند.
